A job in the Supreme Court registry is one of those posts people remember applying for. The Supreme Court of India has released a notice for 250 Junior Court Assistant (JCA) posts, a Group B non-gazetted job at Level 6 with ₹35,400 starting basic pay plus allowances. In Delhi, that works out to a very comfortable in-hand salary.

The online form is open from 7 October and closes on 28 October 2026 at 11:55 PM. That leaves very little time, so if you are eligible, do it this week.

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute on computer
  • Working knowledge of computers
  • Age 18 to 30 years as on 1 September 2026

SC, ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), PwD and ex-servicemen get relaxation as per central rules. Dependants of freedom fighters get up to 5 extra years. Employees of other government departments, PSUs or banks do not get any relaxation.

Selection process

There are four stages and each one is a filter:

  1. Objective test – 100 questions, 1.5 hours. It covers English, aptitude, GK, Constitution and judiciary, Supreme Court rules and computer knowledge. You need 50 out of 100, and wrong answers cost 0.25.
  2. Typing test – 10 minutes in English, minimum 35 wpm.
  3. Descriptive test – comprehension, précis and essay in 2 hours.
  4. Interview – 25 marks.

The objective test is tentatively on 20 November 2026, which gives you about a month after the form closes. The two sections most people neglect are the Supreme Court Rules, 2013 and the Officers and Servants Rules, 1961 – together they are 20 marks, and they are easy marks if you read the bare text once or twice.
