Eligibility in simple words
You need Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board with at least 50% marks. SC/ST candidates only need to pass; the 50% rule does not apply to them. For the two typist posts, you also need to be able to type on a computer in English or Hindi, since there is a typing test.
Age limit is 18 to 30 years as on 1 January 2027 for general candidates. OBC-NCL candidates get up to 33 and SC/ST up to 35. Other relaxations (PwBD, ex-servicemen etc.) are in the CEN.
Exam pattern
There are two CBTs. Stage 1 has 100 questions in 90 minutes: General Awareness 40, Maths 30 and Reasoning 30. Stage 2 has 120 questions in 90 minutes. Each wrong answer cuts one-third of a mark. After that comes a typing test (only for the typist posts), document verification and medical.
If you appeared in NTPC earlier, you already know the paper. General Awareness decides most selections, so start reading current affairs from now, not after the admit card comes.
